The third item needs expansion. The occupiers do cause communities to send in agents for intelligence, police to monitor, and various other dollar expenditures.
The tea party has also provided us far more massive dollar losses. One, losing our maximum credit rating, which will eventually cause USA treasuries to pay a higher interest rate. Two, blocking various public works which benefit everyone in safer roads and bridges.
Membership: using video clips which I am hoping are inclusive of the audience. Tea Party are overweight, white, lazy, selfish.
The occupiers are so diverse that they cannot be defined as belonging to anyones 'base'. As they trade ideas and potential solutions to society's failures, certain solutions will become evident from synergy.
There is nothing wrong in being conservative financially. When the line is crossed to demean certain peoples, that is wrong. It may please the 'base' voter to hear leadership disparage the elderly, black and latino, poor, those in ill health, etc. But this is NOT leadership. This is lowest common denominator. Appealing to crass mob rule.

The answer to all this garbage is simple. The Tea Party was formed by politicians/pundits on the right to push an extremist view so they made sure all their ducks were in an order (permits, security, etc.) as where the OWS was a protest. Big difference. Unless I missed the OWS response to the State of the Union address. Hmm, wonder how the Tea Party was able to procure a slot on prime time TV right after the President's address so easily? The Tea Party is no more of a "protest" than the Republican party itself. They tried to rebrand their extremist as different from the GOP (notice when it first started that they would claim to be Tea Party and not Republican) so as not to hurt the image of the GOP. Only thing is it blew up in their face, everybody noticed right away that it was just Republicans spouting useless crap that they had a slim grasp on to begin with.
Want to know how I'm right?
Compare the civil rights movement to the Tea Party. The CRM had plenty of arrests, police brutality and a cost to the public because it was a protest not a BS extremist sect. You should stop comparing anyone to the Tea Party...nobody was trying to become what they are.
Here's a better question. How many people brought their guns to the OWS protest?

the politician was senator DeMent(ed) of south carolina, the fella who wants to secede while his sidekick, leslie Graham wants to strategic bomb iran - 12.5 months ago in noon speach to national press club in DC.
Where are the voices of reasonable, moderate, conservative republicans who beleieve in good government, peace, prosperity and a solid future.
Mitch Daniels of Indiana replied to prez state of the union. Why him? Looks like brokered republican convention and optional candidates are now needed to break a bitter stalemate.
Chris of NJ, Mitch of Indiana, are in this slot now. Expect others to get their 15 minutes so that power brokers can poll and measure each with regards to beating obama.
Plenty of police brutality was averted during CRM. US army, well armed, was atop roofs, in alley, watching and protecting peaceful marchers.

They have been conned into believing that you're either with them or against them. So they follow the GOP playbook of trying to make Obama look bad. Although under the false pretense that if they point to any good Obama has done they will be voted out by their own base (which is probably true). In the end it boils down to politicians in general. Say one thing, do another. Whatever produces those votes to keep them in power.

True, but nobody hears about the brutality that was averted, they hear about the brutality that happened. Same thing as with this article. It doesn't focus on the good that OWS brought about just the bad. If you don't think anything good came from OWS all you have to do is tune into the most recent GOP debates. The candidates (grabbing for straws as usual) have even gone so far as to call Romney out for how much he makes and how he made it which wouldn't have even been brought up if OWS didn't happen. Want proof? Look at every other year Romney ran for President. Not a single mention of his pay or taxes. They have finally figured out that OWS wasn't just whining liberals but conservatives too that are upset with the lack of fairness in our country now.
That's what I find strange. The GOP demonized the 99% during those protests and now they have realized that playing to the 1% might give you more contributions but demonizing the 99% will lose you the election.
Different things to research and think about. I am liking this discussion so far, civility gets you alot more (honey and vineger ya know). :-{>
