Nikolai Makarov, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, stated that Russia would use force to defend its territorial integrity, if such necessity comes up. Russia would be ready to use strategic nuclear arms for this purpose as well, the official added.

This sounds to me a lot like some of the bluster coming from both israel and Iran--- very bellicose, but probably just talk.
